More than ever seniors and retirees need to be powerful political advocates—to stand up and speak out effectively for ourselves. The Alliance for Retired Americans and the South Carolina Alliance for Retired Americans are dedicated to assisting seniors be responsible, informed advocates on our own behalf!


Launched in 2001 by a broad coalition of community-based organizations and AFL-CIO affiliated unions, the Alliance unites seniors and retirees committed to one common goal--building an effective grassroots organization to advocate for America's seniors at the national, state and local levels.

Community Activism
Under the banner of its Community Advocacy Network (CAN), the Alliance partners with a broad network of community-based groups committed to senior issues. Anyone who shares our vision to protect the health and economic security of older Americans is welcome to join. For an annual membership fee of $10, you can add your voice to the millions who make up the Alliance for Retired Americans.
